“Second chances, old flames, and startling new revelations combine to form a story filled with faith, trial, forgiveness, and redemption. Crack the cover and step in, but beware—Mermaid Moon is harboring secrets that will keep you guessing.” —Lisa Wingate, New York Times bestselling author of Before We Were Yours
Mallory’s mother died fifteen years ago. But her father’s last words on the phone were unmistakable: “Find . . . mother.”
Shame and confusion have kept Mallory Davis from her home for the last fifteen years, but when her dad mysteriously dies on his mail boat route, she doesn’t have any choice but to go back to Mermaid Point.
Mallory believes her father was murdered and childhood sweetheart Kevin O’Connor, game warden in Downeast Maine, confirms her suspicions. But Kevin is wary of helping Mallory in her search. She broke his heart and left—without a word—years ago.
When Mallory begins receiving threats on her own life—and her beloved teenage daughter, Haylie—their search intensifies. There’s a tangled web within the supposed murder, and it involves much more than what meets the eye.
As answers begin to fall into place, Mallory realizes her search is about more than finding her father’s killer—it is also about finding herself again . . . and possibly about healing what was broken so long ago with Kevin. She just has to stay alive long enough to put all the pieces together.
“Coble second Sunset Cove novel takes readers on another exciting journey. The game of cat and mouse keeps you involved in the intrigue, with the romantic tension between Mallory and Kevin provides just the right counterbalance.” —RT Book Reviews
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Coble shifts her Sunset Cove series into overdrive with a second installment driven by murder, arson, kidnapping, and deception. Mallory Davis grew up on Folly Shoals Island, Maine, but after a teenage miscarriage and the death of her mother leave her guilt ridden, she moves to Bangor to start a new life. Now widowed and raising a teenage daughter of her own with the help of her friend and neighbor Carol, Mallory receives a distressing phone call from her estranged father. She immediately contacts the trustworthy ex-boyfriend she dumped 15 years ago, Kevin O'Connor, who is an area game warden. Kevin investigates and finds her father dead in the boat he owns a boat that seems outside his means as a postal worker. On the surface, it looks like a nasty accident, but Mallory soon suspects foul play. Kevin agrees to help her investigate despite their unresolved past. The pair's rekindled romance is the only predictable event in this story. Though Coble sets up an intriguing mystery, the plot lacks integrity with weak motives, confusing details, improbable scenarios, and faith-based references that are random and disjointed. In the end, the convoluted story raises more questions than it answers, leaving a lot open for the next installment.

Great read
Awesome! I just discovered this author. So glad that there is a mystery that is completely clean, encouraging in my faith in Jesus Christ, and still a fabulous mystery.
Outstanding book
LOVED everything about this book. Amazing but flawed characters - some predictable and some difficult to predict. Interesting that some were unwilling to forgive others and some were unwilling to forgive themselves. Couldn’t put this book down and … now can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Review: Really enjoyed this story. Unfortunately I started out confusing this series with the Hope Beach series. I finally did get straighten out due to Claire and her sister. I found the rustic life in Maine to be fun and as rural as Maine truly is. I enjoyed the characters, although Mallory tended to hold onto the past a little too much. Her neighbor Carol was well written. The book had some twists and turns I was not expecting which makes it a must read in my book. I liked the theme of forgiveness that was running through the book. Kevin was great, the best character of all. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. I thought that finding her birth father was exciting and that her father truly had changed life in Christ. While the books are great and Colleen Coble does have a theme of Christianity running through it she has decreased the intensity of it and Mallory’s birth father was the strongest Christian in the book with Kevin being 2nd. I really loved that part. It was not preachy just a factual change of life. Those are something that can speak the loudest. I hope her books continue to be that way.
