Publisher Description
Metropolis is a novel written by Thea von Harbou, who was director Fritz Lang's wife. It contains bits of the story that got lost on the cutting-room floor; in a very real way it is the only way to understand the film.

Must Read for Metropolis fans
For fans of Metropolis and Fritz Lang, this book is required reading. For without it, you can never fully appreciate their story. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. I became mesmerized by Harbou's complex, colorful illustrations, they way she paints the story rather than tell it. "He saw a glass jug of water standing on the table, and the coolness of the water had studded the jar with a thousand pearls." Such eye candy for the reader, one can begin to appreciate the impossible task Lang had of capturing the essence of the story while at the same time not diluting its rich flavor. Highly recommended.
