A Beautiful Tribute
My friend and I met Michael in Philadelphia while he was on the Kick tour. While fans were at the front entrance to the Four Seasons Hotel guarding it waiting for any sight of the band, we had basically given up hope and decided to head home and get ready for the concert that night. We had front row center seats so we would have a close enough experience. As we drove around the rear of the hotel, Michael and Rosanna were crossing the street headed towards a hot dog vendor to get directions to the International Newstand. Of course, we pulled over, autograph pads in hand. He was so polite and gracious.
We offered to give him a ride and he almost accepted until Rosanna stopped him. What if we kidnapped them in a strange city?! We certainly would not have done that and would have chauffeured all day if they wanted.
Reading Tina’s “behind the scenes” account of this time in the tour and his life just brings back so many fun memories around the music. His love of reading makes me understand why he wanted to go to the Newstand that day.
If you are an INXS fan, this is a gem to read.
