Publisher Description

Sunny Chanel's marriage is circling the drain when her husband marks his colonoscopy on the calendar and ignores their anniversary. With divorce papers instead of roses on the horizon, she says "au revoir" Paris and croissants, and "hello" cheap New Haven apartment and ramen noodles.

Encouraged by her friends, Sunny jumps into online dating, twenty-three years and twenty pounds after her last date. To her surprise she discovers dating might require a helmet, and occasionally armor to protect her heart, but after years of being ignored, her adventurous side craves fun and conversation. She's middle-aged not dead. Then suddenly, on the way to reinventing herself, life takes a left turn when the one man she can't forget calls with an unexpected request.

A funny, sweet starting over story

Sunny’s adventures with dating after divorcing her husband of 20 some years is a sweet, funny look at the perils of starting over and finding love again. Each time Sunny went on a date, I couldn’t wait to see if it would turn out to be a quirky encounter that would have me laughing or one that would have me wincing and telling her to run the other way. This book had so many feels and was written to make you laugh and cry along with the characters.

Loved

I found myself hooked from the beginning to the end of the storyline. The characters are engaging and well developed with plenty of witty banter and hilarious missteps into online dating from the prospect of the divorced woman.

The Title Was Better Than The Story

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book via Booksprout. The premise of the book was more interesting than the book itself. Sunny and her husband live in France. One day, he tells her that he wants out of the marriage, so she packs her bags end heads back to the States. Eventually, she’s introduced to the concept of online dating. Most of the people she talked to or dated kind of sucked. There’s no way around saying that. She had everything from the sublime to the ridiculous. I enjoyed the parts with her friends or her teaching more than the parts about her dates; to be honest, for the types of people and behaviors she encountered while dating, it might have been preferable to some women to stay in a loveless marriage or leave dating up to happenstance.
