Three years ago, J.J. Santos, Jr. got himself killed—at least that’s what it said on paper. The DEA resurrected me as Mason Black, forcing me to leave behind everyone I’ve ever cared about, including an angel in blue scrubs I can’t seem to get out of my head.
Her name is Dr. Callie Nicolo, and when our paths cross again, I’m in more danger than ever before. But I’m not about to leave her behind this time. Not even if it compromises my identity and my mission.
I’m the kind of man who wants it all. I’ll find a way to pacify the warring cartels on my tail and make up for lost time with the woman of my dreams. Most importantly, I’ll protect what’s mine—the doc who saved my life in more ways than one, and the little girl waiting for me back in Mexico.
Mile High is the second book in the Second Skin cartel romance series. It features an ex-military hero who has a second chance at love. Although all books in the Second Skin world can be read as standalones, you won’t want to miss the rest. An erotic romance with explicit sex and strong language, a happily ever after is always guaranteed. Enjoy!
This may be the first book I’ve read by Ophelia Bell, but it definitely won’t be my last. This page turner is a steamy read that had me flipping the pages to see what would happen next. Callie and J.J. first meet when he’s brought into the ER with a gunshot wound, along with his brother, Maddox. Callie is assigned to J.J. and he is doing well, so much so that he asks her out. At her next shift, she’s going to agree to go out with him, but he’s no longer there. She’s told he died. Fast forward three yeats, J.J. is now Mason. No spoilers, so grab your copy and see what happens. The suspense will have you on the edge of your sear. I look forward to reading the other books in this series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
JJ aka Mason meets Callie when he goes to the ER needing surgery for spinal injuries, eyes gets locked between them but nothing occurs until three years later.
Thrilling romantic read
What a fantastic book! I was pulled immediately into the characters and their story. Callie getting out of her comfort zone and Mason trying to be a better man than his father. Each comes with baggage (that adds to the story rather than detracts) that makes for an action packed and suspenseful Story. You can’t help but cheer for Callie and Mason as well as getting to know a little bit about the other characters as well. The book is basically can be a stand alone read (meaning you don’t need to read book one to understand this story) however for me, the book does make me want to know the other characters in the series as well.
