Miracles Are Everywhere

If you are confined in the darkness for long enough, it becomes easy to forget the wonder of a ray of light; when you stay where the sky is shrouded in smog, it is hard to see the beauty of the stars. When you are jaded by routine, the glory of the sun setting over the ocean is little more than a nuisance that keeps you up at night. It is hard for the seeds of revelation and miracles to take root and grow in a heart that has grown hard in the struggle to survive cutthroat competition.


With my book "Miracles Are Everywhere," I have acted rather like a gardener, dividing my garden into plots, planting trees in them, and then tending those trees. I arranged the poems in this volume into five sections as I saw fit according to the shape and color of the fruit and flowers. ... My garden is still incomplete, but I hope that many people will join me in tending it so that in the future more beautiful flowers may bloom, and so that the trees may bear more delicious fruit.
