MM9 tells the story of the Meteorological Agency Monsterological Measures Department. Through five stories, we see five different monsters and how the MMD must find a way to stop them before they can wreck havoc on Japan. Now it should be said here that only the final story has monster vs monster action, so if that is why you are interested in the book, don't. Ultimately, MM9 is more like the original Gojira, where the meat of the story focuses on the humans and how they deal with the monster's rampage.
