Publisher Description

American novelist Herman Melville (August 1, 1819 – September 28, 1891). Novelist, writer of short stories, and poet, Moby Dick is said to be, "the greatest book of the sea ever written", after the novel was first known to be a commercial failure and out of print at the time of the Melville's death in 1891.

The experiences at sea, describing the reality of whale hunting and of extracting whale oil, along with life aboard the ship with a culturally diverse crew, experience a mix of class and social status, good and evil, and the existence of God. This crew will work with the captain of the whaler Pequod, for revenge on Moby Dick, a white whale that on a previous voyage destroyed captain Ahab's ship and severed his leg at the knee.
