Jaysha is followed by many versions of herself. They are the voices in her head, the pale faces of her fractured mind. She strives to be normal, but longs for freedom.

Beyond the city lies the Hinterland, a vast wilderness populated by strange creatures. A sojourn there can drive folk mad, but Jaysha is already mad. What more could go wrong?
