Charmingly sweet
Magic and wonder filled me as I delved into Maddi’s world. To say Maddi is a wonderful mother would be an understatement. When she said “Spence, love of my heart, son of my everything” I just instantly fell in love with her bond and it only grew as I saw her go into mom mode time and time again to ensure her child came first. Jake (her sons father) never stepped up but with them arriving in town you can quickly tell he’s not only interested in growing his relationship with Spence but with Maddi too, much to her mothers disapproval.
The way Adriana is able to describe locations and events with such vivid details blows me away. I want to live in Haverberry and walk down the pathways to the holiday market and experience everything the way her son Spence does on his first Christmas trip to Maddi’s home town. The whole vibe of the book gives off a Hallmark Christmas and I fully expect to see this made to a Hallmark movie one day because it’s just delightfully heartwarming with a beautiful Christmas back drop.
The trip is a complex mix of emotions as we literally bump into Maddi’s old friend Liv who also happens to be Maddi’s first love’s (Wilder) sister, we start flashing back to old memories of friendships, relationships, and baking with her then best friend Wilder and her father at their family owned bakery that give us an incredible insight into the past as Maddi forges ahead awaiting to find out what the urgent matter is that brought her home.
Wilder was the last person she wanted to see but is also the one person who can give her much needed answers/closure. You will laugh, cry, and swoon but in the end a unconditional love from someone she doesn’t expect will help her uncover the truth and heal many broken relationships.
