“I will, I will!” “Mommy, I’ll do it!”
These are often insisted upon by children as they turn three or four and their selfhood springs into being. “I will!” is the most active way for children to express themselves and is also a necessary expression for their intellectual and psychological development. The words “I will,” however, are also the beginning of conflict between mother and child. Whoever has raised a child will know how much patience is needed to respect these words “I will.”
Tommy and his mother, the characters of this story, are easily found in our daily lives. The book thus conveys familiar motifs and themes that readers can easily identify with. This book is therefore an encouragement for all little children engrossed in new challenges and all parents watching their children with amazing love and tolerance.
