“Monarch Summer” is based on a true story from the author’s childhood in Minnesota. During one idyllic summer, two friends share adventures while exploring a wild neighbor field filled with poplar trees and milkweed plants. There, they discover the wonder of the Monarch butterfly’s lifecycle. At the same time, they begin to understand the meaning and value of friendship and family, even when life brings unexpected changes.
