I can’t help it. I’m addicted to the LaRue’s and Chiassons and their constant struggles with the paranormal factions in New Orleans. Quick to read, loaded with action and attraction and plenty of insets and descriptions that bring New Orleans to life, this is a great starter series to enjoy what Donna Grant has to offer.

In this story we meet Skye, a reporter who is disclosing specific details about the factions in her new series in the local newspaper. A bit of a fool, she’s convinced herself she has a clue (she doesn’t) and has a ‘vampire’ as her undercover source. But she’s naïve, and ridiculously unaware of her own limitations: the vamp isn’t a vamp, she doesn’t realize the dangers she is playing with and, of course, the LaRue Boys, with help from Riley and the Moonstone pack feel obligated to help her (and keep the specific details that she is learning and sharing out of the papers).

This is essentially Court’s story (I’m dying for Solomon to get his – and we still haven’t really dealt with Kane’s issues either) and he’s the player of the bunch. Hiding out from the many women who are chasing him down, Court is living a life of multiple women, no commitments and maintaining order in New Orleans. Until Skye. He can’t get her out of his head: the electric sparks that pass between them.

Plenty of action and an occasionally frustrating heroine who can’t quite grasp the true depth of the danger she has awakened. She’s incredibly lucky that the LaRue’s accept and protect her so completely, and the connection with Court is lovely.

It’s not all fur, fangs and fight though: Addison and Myles move their relationship forward with a marriage, and Minka is again adding her insight and talents to the mix, much to Solomon’s discomfiture.

A fun series that reveals the LaRue’s and their struggles with personal demons, the supernatural factions in the city and their own worries about Delphine and her return. Action packed with plenty of heart and heat, these novella length stories are perfect bites that engage and entertain.
