A Must Have Guidebook for Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks
Author Becky Lomax did an absolutely incredible job relaying the options for visitors to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. This authentic, well thought out, and easy to navigate book provided a spectacular level of detail and in the right doses. Lomax breaks down a visit by season and includes what the road/trail conditions might be like and the day/night temps. She included three scenarios for a visit: half day, full day, and avoid the crowds in various park locations. Matching maps with enumerated locations aligning with the visit type accompanied each geography and was color coded.
Important tourist, geologic, recreational, cultural, and historical information is relayed with ease and expertise. Lomax clearly knows the landscape and understands what a visitor might enjoy. She relays options from hiking to paddling, backpacking to tours, snowshoeing to birdwatching—she covered it all. She even gave tips and tricks to finding the best sunset views, the park highlights, and top three analysis with page references for more details throughout the book.
I also enjoyed the explanations on why it is important stay on the trail, avoid the wildlife, why boardwalk trails move, and urges visitors to take responsibility for their own behavior and to act sustainably to preserve the landscape.
The only thing I would have included is accessibility features for those with mobility, visual, audio, and other conditions. Becky, you knocked it out of the ballpark.
