Part-manifesto, part-memoir, from the revolutionary editor who infused social consciousness into the pages of Teen Vogue, an exploration of what it means to come into your own—on your own terms
Throughout her life, Elaine Welteroth has climbed the ranks of media and fashion, shattering ceilings along the way. In this riveting and timely memoir, the groundbreaking journalist unpacks lessons on race, identity, and success through her own journey, from navigating her way as the unstoppable child of an unlikely interracial marriage in small-town California to finding herself on the frontlines of a modern movement for the next generation of change makers.
Welteroth moves beyond the headlines and highlight reels to share the profound lessons and struggles of being a barrier-breaker across so many intersections. As a young boss and often the only Black woman in the room, she’s had enough of the world telling her—and all women—they’re not enough. As she learns to rely on herself by looking both inward and upward, we’re ultimately reminded that we’re more than enough.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Elaine Welteroth was appointed editor in chief of Teen Vogue when she was just 29, soon transforming the magazine into a vehicle for political engagement and social change. Welteroth—who’s often been the only Black woman in the room during her journalism career—championed the importance of visibility for everyone, bringing a new inclusivity to the magazine’s fashion and makeup spreads. Part memoir and part Generation Z feminism-is-for-everyone manifesto, More Than Enough recounts Welteroth’s personal and business successes and missteps with vulnerable honesty. Her advice and encouragement is so infectiously confident and enthusiastic, you’ll want to buy a copy for your sister—and brother—as soon as you’re finished.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Welteroth's inspiring debut follows her personal and professional trajectories as she unpacks her ascent to becoming editor-and-chief of Teen Vogue in 2017 and details her experience as a black woman in media. From humble beginnings as a "brown girl boss" running a makeshift hair salon out of her Newark, Calif., cul-de-sac home, Welteroth built an illustrious editorial career as she worked her way up through increasingly substantial roles at Ebony and Glamour magazines. She tackles intimate details of her past family skeletons (such as years of dealing with her father's drinking and depression), heartbreaks, and solidifying her sense of identity with an equal mix of personal vignettes and existential musings. Welteroth's many revelations of romantic missteps, including a relationship with a Wall Street banker that ends calamitously after she receives an email about his philandering, and career pitfalls and triumphs, as when she is recruited from Glamour to Teen Vogue, are delivered in a conversational voice: "I was beginning to carve out space for conversations about identity and race at the magazine... and the intersection between fashion, culture, and later, politics." Explaining her many experiences being "othered," by coworkers at largely white Cond Nast magazines and just generally out in the world, Welteroth offers a narrative of empowerment to any reader who has had similar experiences. This affecting tale of claiming one's space and refuting biases will encourage readers to believe in their own worth and demonstrates Welteroth's mantra of "First. Only. Different."

Incredible and Relatable
This was the first and only book I finished in less than a month + this was not a school assignment or book club pressures of any sorts! I literally couldn’t stop reading this beautifully biography of Elaine’s story. I know she has way more up her sleeve and she is an inspiration not only to black women but to all women around the world. Loved every word of this and Elaine please keep writing!
Amazing
This book was beautifully written. Being a woman of color this book made me proud
Must read
I couldn’t put this book down. Elaine did a great job sharing her upbringing, career, and courage to do more and to take up space in the seat where she belonged. My book has a lot of dog ears and highlights because of the wisdom she shared from her own experiences and the wisdom sprinkled on her from her closest friends. When she made it to the top, she made sure to brought others along with her. If you haven't already, buy it for your self and your friends.
