I hired her to distract my enemy. Now I'm determined to have her for my own.
I’m Maxon Reed—multimillionaire, mogul…shark. If a contract isn’t high profile and big money, I pass. Now that I’ve found the deal of a lifetime, I’m jumping. But one cutthroat bastard stands between me and success—my brother. I’ll need a totally devious ploy to distract cynical Griff. Then fate drops a luscious redhead in my lap who’s just his type.
Sassy Keeley Kent accepts my challenge to become Griff’s perfect girlfriend. But between the witty conversation and the days together, I’m having trouble resisting her. The quirky dreamer is everything I don’t tolerate…but she’s utterly charming. I more than want her; I’m desperate to own her. I’m not even sure how drastic I’m willing to get to make her mine—but I’m about to show her.
Loved this opposites attract romance!
This is the first time I have read this author and it won’t be my last. This book takes place in one of my favorite places on earth, Maui, Hawaii. I absolutely adored the setting. I also loved that music was involved. I love when the authors provide play lists for their books.
This book has a very alpha career driven hero, and when you find out about his family, you will discover what drives him. The thing is, under all that bravado is a man who has deep feelings that he was never taught how to express and apply them. My heart hurt for him, but he had to learn the hard way.
Keeley is the opposite of Maxon. She is lighthearted and a free spirit. When he asks what she wants out of life, she says, I just want to be happy. He couldn’t comprehend that answer. He wanted money, he wanted a title, he wanted to be the best and here was this beautiful, quirky woman who aspired to just be happy. She of course had the dream to own her own B&B once she graduated from college. She wasn’t afraid of hard work. She worked as a yoga instructor at a senior center, she had been a waitress, went to college, worked as a receptionist and was quite a talented singer. She also had the great ability to ask the tough questions when the conversation got deep. She was able to connect with Maxon and really get him to think about his life.
This book had all the feels and it had a twist that I didn’t see coming! I was getting that burning in my chest a few times, as the characters went through their issues and I wanted to cry a couple of times because I was so caught up in their emotions. Their romance is a whirlwind, but the connection they have is soul deep and they both feel it right from the start. Keeley was definitely more in tuned with her feelings and it took Maxon a bit to catch up, but when he did, he jumped all in.
I highly recommend this emotional and sexy opposites attract romance!
I more than wanted it!
ARC for honest review
First off I am a raving fan of Ms. Black’s Wick Lovers Series, and her joined ventures work With Lexi Blake and her other fabulous joint venture with Isabella LaPearl & Jenna Jacob's. I also feel like I am cheating on one series with the other, which I am aware is a little weird, but that is how I feel. So I went in expecting some odd feelings about the entire books.
At first I was a little stilted as we are in Maxon’s head through almost all of the book, which okay was a little different for me, but you know what I ended up loving it. Realizing that a lot of the books I read jump from character perspective to character perspective.
The story is well put together, which I expect from a Shayla Black book, but at the same time this new series is different from her Wicked Lover’s series, but the one thing that remains is the laugh out loud moments and the rah rah-ing for the characters to make it. I love the world development and the fact that there was a twist to this books that I was like AHA!.
If you love romance this is for you. No BDSM, so if that was your turn-off for trying Shayla Black’s books this one is for you. If you are a fan of Shayla Black then you gotta read this one. Cause I can’t wait for the next one. Overall I say jump on board this crazy train and hold on.
Really good read
Loved this book!!
