Murder in an Irish Village Murder in an Irish Village

Publisher Description

Bestselling author Carlene O’Connor’s first novel in the acclaimed Irish Village Mystery series is now available in trade paperback! Siobhán O’Sullivan lives in a quaint village on the Emerald Isle that’s a pure drop of heaven, until murder changes everyone’s luck for the worse.

“Distinctive, captivating characters match a gripping plot full of surprises. O’Connor reinforces her place among the top rank of cozy writers.” –Publishers Weekly STARRED REVIEW for Murder at an Irish Bakery

In the small village of Kilbane, County Cork, Ireland, Naomi’s Bistro has always been a warm and welcoming spot to visit with neighbors, enjoy some brown bread and tea, and get the local gossip. Nowadays twenty-two-year-old Siobhán O’Sullivan runs the family bistro named for her mother, along with her five siblings, after the death of their parents in a car crash almost a year ago.

It’s been a rough year for the O’Sullivans, but it’s about to get rougher. One morning, as they’re opening the bistro, they discover a man seated at a table, dressed in a suit as if for his own funeral, a pair of hot pink barber scissors protruding from his chest.

With the local garda suspecting the O’Sullivans, and their business in danger of being shunned—murder tends to spoil the appetite—it’s up to feisty redheaded Siobhán to solve the crime and save her beloved brood.

Fun book

A story that takes place in a town I visited made it extra special.

Awful

I’d give it no stars if possible. This is one of the worst written books I’ve ever read. Every Irish cliche possible is packed into this ham handed mess. The series had been recommended by a friend so I finished it and even read the second one because I had foolishly gotten both. The second in the series is just as poorly written and cringey as the first. Avoid at all costs if you like good mysteries and hate lame stereotypes.

Very Entertaining

I thought this was a very entertaining book. The author kept me guessing who the killer was until the very end. All the different characters were fun to get to know.
