Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) seems a perfect place to nestle into, but for Jamie Kocur, it becomes a place to hide.
Jamie takes her love of music and channels it into a passion for CCM, longing to one day become a Christian singer-songwriter. That career goal takes her down some unexpected paths, including a literal journey through four continents where she comes face-to-face with some of CCM’s biggest artists and Hollywood stars. As she experiences the growing world around her, she slowly emerges from her sheltered bubble of a life. CCM becomes less relatable and instead seems cliché. The slow realization that this music might not be as wonderful as she had once believed leads her to a season of deep disillusionment that spills over into every other area of her faith.
My CCM Soundtracked Life journals the deconstruction of Jamie’s deep faith. Despite her struggles and questions, Jamie embraces the doubts and disillusionment of her journey. As she leans into the uncertainty, she finds a little hope and a new song to sing.
Refreshingly honest, entertaining and keeps you reading
This book is so honest it is refreshing. The author doesn't pull any punches. She takes you with her through the important events in her life and you can't help but keep reading. But the story isn't just about the author; if you're a Christian, you'll likely see your own story in the book too. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Christian music or other Christian memoirs.
An honest story and beautiful journey
I really enjoyed reading Jaimie’s memoir. It’s honest with the reader and the way music plays a character in her life is beautiful. I think you’ll enjoy it too.
