My Centenarian Odyssey

An unusual and interesting story of the life and adventures of an 102-year-old, who was born in Imperial Russia to parents of Russian nobility just two months prior to the Russian Revolution of 1917. It describes the family's flee from the atrocities of the Bolsheviks and their journey across Siberia and to Harbin, China, prior to their ultimate immigration to the USA in 1923. This story relates to the family’s struggle to adjust to a new culture and survive through the Great Depression. Detailed description of the author’s determined effort to earn his way, and receive two degrees from Stanford University, his naval service during World War II and his lifelong career managing steelmaking operations. Description of his problems and successes in managing three different steel-making plants including the huge US Steel Gary works, and his rise to ultimately be President of a Steel Company. Valuable lessons in management philosophy and leadership are indicated in this candid treatise.
