My Dad Is Different

My Dad Is Different is a story seen from the eyes of a child.  Author Wendy Desmet tells the story of how her son, Josh, knows there is something different about his Dad. Dealing with a disabled parent is a challenging part of a child’s life. Accepting their parents and others with disabilities will make children empathetic and wellrounded in their future.


Author Wendy Desmet lives with her husband, Michael, and son, Josh, in Yorkshire, England. Her husband is disabled and wheelchair bound. When Josh was born, the question around Michael’s disability would eventually be brought up. This is when Wendy wrote My Dad Is Different, to help Josh understand his Dad’s disability.
