I have been asked countless time, why can’t you just eat?. Coworkers called me sticks for being so thin. But I could not see I was thin. I thought I was not thin enough and I could not recognize how much weight I was losing until it spiraled out of control. An eating disorder is not a diet that you can stop and start at any time. Eating disorders are a way of coping with the parts of your life that are to painful to face. It is not about the food, it is about learning to accept your feelings. In this book,I use the metaphor of an expanding balloon to explain what it feels like to feel fat in a skinny body.
