My Sweet Enemy
The only thing tempering their insta-hate is delicious attraction.
Sunny chocolatier Charlotte Beecher is unemployed, in student debt, and on the verge of hawking her beloved copper pots just to make ends meet. So when a gourmet chocolate factory chooses her as one of five candidates to help re-launch the company in their Charlie and the Chocolate Factory inspired competition, Charlotte begins to see a light at the end of the tunnel.
Fellow contestant Luke Wells complicates her plans to win by a landslide with his flow charts and marketing projections. Mr. Tall, Dark, and Haughty is all about the bottom line and is as bitter as she is sweet. And when he snubs Charlotte in the first challenge, misunderstanding or not, she transforms from cream puff to jawbreaker. Bring. It. On.
But when these two rivals find themselves distracted by delicious attraction, will they let their passion get in the way of winning the competition?
A Delight in Today’s World
I love this mature take on “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. The characters are fun and the feel of the camera crew following them around is interesting. There were quite a few twists that actually surprised me. I recommend to all.
Life is sweet!
This book hooked me right from the start! The friendship between Charlotte and her best friend Beth reminded me so much of my best friend and I! Then you add chocolate, competition, a hot guy and some steamy scenes to all add up to a wonderful read! When Charlotte quit her job she didn’t expect to be shunned by the entire industry in the city due to her boss. When her best friend Beth signs her up for an internship vying for a job, her whole world changes. Luke Wells has just left all that he has ever known to stand up for what he feels is right. This leads him to the same competition and potentially, to the love of his life! This book gave me all the heart eyes 😍 and emotions I could handle! It was a roller coaster of emotions throughout but in a good way! My Sweet Enemy by Jenny Hartwell truly is a sweet and sexy read!
My Sweet Enemy
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This book had some really cute and funny scenes but over all, I had a hard time finishing it. I just had a hard time connecting to the two main characters. Even though the read is written in a dual POV format which typically helps me to understand and connect with characters, it wasn't so here. That being said though, someone else may have a totally different viewpoint and love it.
This is a sexy story that someone over the age of 18 can read.
