This picture book has a nice concept - using imagery to capture the attention of people for the beauty of the National Parks - but has fairly poor execution. Given that it is a picture book, the main question is "how good are the pictures"? Unfortunately, the photos range from good to fairly poor. Since most photos were apparently taken at midday, there is tremendous overexposure and contrast that lends many photos less than passable. While the scenery is inherently gorgeous, not a single photo is even in the category of "very good". Compare this to the work of someone like Art Wolfe, where nearly every shot is breathtaking, and the difference is profound.
