Negritude - the Names They Tried to Silence

Negritude is more than an EP/Album and Book — it's a spoken word tribute to the voices of Black liberation, past and present. Inspired by the spirit of the original Négritude movement and in dialogue with works like Poètes & Chansons by Bernard Ascal — which gave musical life to the poetry of Senghor, Césaire, and Damas — this project channels the raw urgency of freedom fighters whose words ignited resistance. Through rhythm, voice, and verse, Negritude reclaims orality as a weapon against erasure, echoing the griot tradition while grounding itself in today’s struggles. This is poetry as protest. Language as legacy. Sound as liberation.
