(Includes a preview of the second BETROTHED novella, SEVEN MINUTES IN HEAVEN)

BETROTHED is a trilogy of standalone stories that explore the world of arranged marriages and how they affect every couple differently.

On a beautiful day in the French countryside, Austrian heiress Valeska Reiter marries a man she has only seen a handful of times over the past two years. The wedding day is only the beginning.

Andre Dubois comes from a line of French nobility so long that they somehow escaped the guillotine. His debonair mannerisms and handsome looks lead Valeska to say yes to a proposed match after only one meeting in Monaco.

It seems like a fairy tale ending after a wedding night that leaves Valeska panting and awaiting a lifetime of more. But a decade and two children later, Valeska can’t help but wonder… what are the limits of an arranged marriage when a woman’s dignity is on the line?

She loves him. She’s pretty sure he loves her. But ten years of a language barrier proves the end of Valeska’s sanity as she finally pushes Andre to say what’s really been on his mind for ten years – in a language his wife can understand!

Awesome read!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This was an awesome romance story that also had drama and keeps you intrigued. From the very first page I was spellbound by these fantastically described characters that you will find yourself falling in love with them—or not. I wasn't expecting the turn this story took; it has quite an unexpected surprise that will keep you on the edge of your seat while leaving you intrigued and speculating what’s next, but it is jaw-dropping good! This is a poignant story about an Austrian heiress, Valeska Reiter, and her arranged marriage to a French nobleman, André Dubois, who is tall, handsome, and sexy. When Valeska meets André for the first time for their arranged marriage, she agrees to be engaged to him because she thought he was very handsome, even though he was French. During the engagement, André would only give Valeska chaste kisses and this infuriated her because she felt insecure about getting married because André always had plenty of women. After the marriage, André and Valeska made an agreement to be committed for two years, and after that time, they would revisit their desires because she felt he would get tired of her and wished to move on. Did André and Valeska’s marriage end after two years? Did Valeska finally get over her insecurity? Cynthia Dane has woven a story that is so beautifully written about arranged marriages and how it may affect those marriages. The scenes are well written, fast-paced and flow smoothly from one scene to the next. I recommend this book because it will pique your interest and draw you in from the beginning to the very end.

Arranged Marriage

I was drawn to this book because I have never read a story about arranged marriage.

It was so interesting to see how Andre and Valeska's relationship changed over the almost 10 years together. They had language barriers that kept them from truly knowing how they felt about each other but the way they communicate with each other is beautiful and completely endearing.

I'm really looking forward to the next novella in this series!
