Publisher Description
Virginia Heath’s Never Rescue a Rogue, the next book in the Merriwell Sisters series, is filled with whip-smart banter, swoony romance, hilarious mishaps, and twisty reveals that will make you gasp and laugh in delight.
Diana Merriwell and Giles Sinclair only tolerate one another for the sake of their nearest and dearest. Everyone believes that the two of them are meant to be together, but Diana and Giles know that their constant pithy barbs come from a shared disdain—not a hidden attraction. Diana loves the freedom of working at the newspaper too much to give it up for marriage, and Giles is happily married to his bachelor lifestyle. But they do have one thing in common—the secrets they can’t risk escaping.
When Giles’ father, the curmudgeonly Duke of Harpenden unexpectedly turns up his toes, it’s only a matter of time before someone comes crawling out of the woodwork who knows the true circumstances of his only son's birth. As the threat of blackmail becomes real, Giles must uncover the truth of his parentage first, or else he and all those who depend upon him will be ruined—and dogged bloodhound Diana is his best hope at sniffing out the truth. As Giles and Diana dive into his family’s past, the attraction that the two of them insisted wasn’t there proves impossible to ignore. Soon, the future of the Sinclair estate isn’t the only thing on the line…
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
A duke teams up with a journalist to protect his tenants from his scheming uncle in Heath's infectious second Merriwell Sisters historical romance (after Never Fall for Your Fiancée). Roguish Giles Sinclair, heir to the Duke of Harpenden, learned years ago that his real mother was the duke's mistress, making him illegitimate. When his father dies suddenly, Giles fears it's only a matter of time before the truth gets out and the law comes calling to seize his dukedom and hand it over to his greedy, philandering uncle Gervais. Brilliant Diana Merriwell also has a secret: she's The Sentinel, an anonymous reporter with a reputation for using her pen to uncover dangerous secrets. Though no one in Diana's family knows her real role at the paper, Giles suspects the truth. The quarrelsome pair have been forced to tolerate each other ever since Giles's best friend married Diana's sister—and now Giles turns to Diana for help. As they work together to protect each other's secrets, their witty bickering becomes more like foreplay and trust and loyalty grow. Still, the threat of Gervais and Diana's distrust for men threaten their budding romance. It's the perfect mix of romance and intrigue, and the formidable central couple is sure to win hearts. This is a gem.

4.5-5 Stars!
4.5-5 Stars! I really loved this book. This is book 2 in the ‘Merriwell sisters’ series but can be read as a standalone, though I’d recommend reading book one first. Giles and Diana, the 2 main characters, start off as frenemies and become much more. This book had romance, mystery, ‘sexy times’, witty banter, a matchmaking family, an HEA ending and an ex-pirate butler, complete with eye patch and peg leg! What more could you possibly need?! This really was a great book and I love this whole series so far! I really can’t wait to read Vee’s story next! Only criticism - I would’ve loved an epilogue to wrap the story up but seeing as I plan on reading book 3, I guess I’ll just have to wait. Ugh!
