H.G. Wells was a strong advocate for the replacement social systems based on private ownership, and a superior intellect who, in this work, presents a well-crafted argument for socialism. 


Wells was someone who did his research and was well-informed. In this work he presents common misconceptions on socialism and a brief history, before diving into his argument to try and persuade his readers. For Wells, socialism was more a religious movement than a political one.
