Publisher Description
A present mystery... A tragic past
In the summer of 1934, Olivia Otway drives down to the depths of Cornwall and crosses a threshold into a new world.
She leaves behind the familiarity of Bohemian London theatre-land and steps, an unwelcome guest, into the aristocratic rigidity of Landrake, a house and family haunted by ghosts from the past.
There she meets her new stepfather, Lord Landrake, and his three unhappy, unprincipled daughters. Fearing for the safey of her mother, Olivia uncovers long-gone passions that pollute the present. The revelation of these disastrous secrets threatens everyone now living at Landrake House.
The past is a dangerous place…
Another vintage mystery from Elizabeth Edmondson.

Loved This Book
I downloaded this book after having read "A Villa in Italy." Now I plan to read all of Edmondson's novels. Her characters are well-rounded, the plots are believable and mysterious, and the historical backgrounds are realistically drawn and described. I do have one minor quibble: the book was not proofread, so there were double words, missing words and words in the wrong places.
