Night Shift is Stephen King's first collection of short stories--a perfect showcase of just how far King's dark imagination can go. Here we see mutated rats gone bad ("Graveyard Shift"); a cataclysmic virus that threatens humanity ("Night Surf," the basis for The Stand); a possessed, evil lawnmower ("The Lawnmower Man"); unsettling children from the heartland ("Children of the Corn"); a smoker who will try anything to stop ("Quitters, Inc."); a reclusive alcoholic who begins a gruesome transformation ("Gray Matter"); and many more. This is Stephen King at his horrifying best.

Classic
This collection originally came out in the early 80s and scared the bejesus out of an 11 year old with an overactive imagination. It still works on me some 30 odd years later.
Night shift
This a great one for people new to Stephen King. This was my first book I read of his and I loved it. He is such a great writer. After you read a few of the stories, I bet you will be dreaming about the stories when you are asleep. Enjoy, I know I did!
Amazing
This short story collection was my introduction to Stephen King when I was a kid. I really loved the original cover, with the hand covered with eyes! The stories are all terrific. I still think this is his best short story collection. A must have for horror fans and Stephen King fans.
