"[Thich Nhat Hanh] shows us the connection between personal, inner peace and peace on earth." --His Holiness The Dalai Lama
Nominated by Martin Luther King, Jr. for a Nobel Peace Prize, Thich Nhat Hanh is one of today’s leading sources of wisdom, peace, compassion and comfort.
With hard-won wisdom and refreshing insight, Thich Nhat Hanh confronts a subject that has been contemplated by Buddhist monks and nuns for twenty-five-hundred years— and a question that has been pondered by almost anyone who has ever lived: What is death?
In No Death, No Fear, the acclaimed teacher and poet examines our concepts of death, fear, and the very nature of existence. Through Zen parables, guided meditations, and personal stories, he explodes traditional myths of how we live and die. Thich Nhat Hanh shows us a way to live a life unfettered by fear.
Truth Sets Us Free
Understanding the meaning of no birth and no death is what sets us free. Free to enjoy the life we are living now knowing that there is a continuity and a purpose. There is no beginning and no end, there is no separateness. There is the universe and our existence in it together
I am from Mexico City. My beloved mother had died 5 months ago.
One day a was in Facebook and someone had uploaded a you tube video with an interview from Oprah s program to Thich nhat about dead and this book. It was not the whole interview but only the part I really needed at that exact time.
That video helped me so much, gave me so much happiness and peace, suddenly a very odd thing in my city happened. it began to hail and rain with the biggest balls of ice I had never seen before. It was magical, I felt my mother there just beside me trying to tell me.... "Darling darling don't you see I am here??? "..... It was her 4th month anniversary exactly. Something so strange and beautiful.
So I went to I tunes store and bought this book. It has been a blessing. Thank you .
There's is so many paragraphs that seems to have been written just for me as for example the one that you say " don't want anything to do with your father... What a declaration you are your father and your father is you."
Also the peace and joy that reading gives me to know that my beloved and worship mother is around and now is only manifesting differently.... And now is only a matter of time.
i am a catholic but this book has no religion, is universal and great for any religion. The book is great.
Thank you and sorry for my broken English hopefully who read this will understand the context of my words....
Hopefully some day I will be able to go to a retreat with this incredible .
Read it if you lost someone, read it if you are sick or have any fear, it will make you good
Great, but repetitive
I found the first half to be very interesting, but soon after it seemed cyclical. The analogies were similar, if not the same after that point.
