Publisher Description
After his father is accused of murder, combat veteran and Special Agent John Puller must investigate his past and learn the truth about his mother in this New York Times bestselling thriller--but someone hiding in the shadows wants revenge.
Two men. Thirty years.
John Puller's mother, Jackie, vanished thirty years ago from Fort Monroe, Virginia, when Puller was just a boy. Paul Rogers has been in prison for ten years. But twenty years before that, he was at Fort Monroe. One night three decades ago, Puller's and Rogers' worlds collided with devastating results, and the truth has been buried ever since.
Until now.
Military investigators, armed with a letter from a friend of Jackie's, arrive in the hospital room of Puller's father-a legendary three-star now sinking into dementia-and reveal that Puller Sr. has been accused of murdering his wife.
Aided by his brother Robert Puller, an Air Force major, and Veronica Knox, who works for a shadowy U.S. intelligence organization, Puller begins a journey that will take him into his own past, to find the truth about his mother.
Paul Rogers' time is running out. With the clock ticking, he begins his own journey, one that will take him across the country to the place where all his troubles began: a mysterious building on the grounds of Fort Monroe. There, thirty years ago, the man Rogers had once been vanished too, and was replaced with a monster. And now the monster wants revenge. And the only person standing in his way is John Puller.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Bestseller Baldacci makes the implausible plausible in his riveting fourth thriller featuring U.S. Army criminal investigator John Puller (after 2014's The Escape). Thirty years after Puller's mother, Jackie, disappeared from Virginia's Fort Monroe, a neighbor at the time, now terminally ill, has written the authorities to make a devastating claim. Although Puller's soldier father was believed to have been abroad on the fateful night, new evidence has emerged that he was in the vicinity when Jackie vanished, and that coupled with the dying neighbor's belated accusations that he murdered her has led to a reopening of the dormant case. Puller, naturally, ignores requests to stay out of the investigation and finds that some logical avenues of inquiry weren't pursued at the time. Meanwhile, brutal Paul Rogers, who has been discharged from prison, embarks on a quest of his own, whose purposes are initially artfully concealed. Baldacci maintains tension throughout and imbues his characters with enough humanity to make readers care what happens to them.

Another Good Puller Story
Yet another good chapter in the Puller series. Lots of twists and turns along the way with a satisfying ending.
No Mans Land. David Baldacci
Another excellent read in this series. In a military base at Fort Monroe in a building designated as Q a genetically engineered soldier has been made. Against his wishes. The perfect soldier. A virtual killing machine. Agent Puller is working off the books to find at what really happened to his mother who disappeared one evening never to return home. The emergence of the perfect soldier and his mothers disappearance coincide. Suspense, action. Intrigue…again a stupendous read!! My highest recommendation!!
Enjoyed it!
Good book. Enjoyed staying up late to read it. Had some interesting twists. Tied up most of the loose ends and little plot holes.
