Publisher Description
She’s nothing but a common thief…and her next target is the Earl of Scarsdale’s heart.
Orphaned as a child and left in her uncle’s care, Marian Trill has known only a life of crime. Criss-crossing the countryside, she aids her uncle and his small troupe of thieves in conning well-to-do travelers…until one handsome mark catches her eye. Marian has no business betraying her only family for this gentleman’s safety…just as she has no business following Danny all the way to his country estate to return a valuable ring he left behind.
Daniel, Earl of Scarsdale, is returning home after years of avoiding the inevitable—marrying his neighbor’s daughter. He’d hoped to wed for love, but having failed at that venture, it’s time he took his duties seriously, even if it means settling for a woman more to his mother’s liking than his own. He didn’t count on the beguiling thief he met on the road following him home—nor on his scheming granny inviting her to stay as her companion.

Granny Knows Best
Daniel Dawkin, Earl of Scarsdale, having decided he has had enough of the rake’s life, is on his way home to propose to his neighbor’s daughter. All is well until he rescues who he thought was a damsel in distress. Said rescue results in his being robbed. Marian Trill has been part of uncle’s troupe of thieves most of her life. She takes notice of the handsome man who comes to her “rescue” outside the inn. She learned two things that made her leave her “family,” warn the man of danger, and follow him to return one of his belongings.
Danny and Marian were instantly attracted to each other, but saw no possibility of a future. The neighbor’s daughter, Amy, is a piece of work. Danny might want to think this possibility through. Danny’s grandmother is a scheming delight. Granny finds a way for Marian to stay, and works to bring this unlikely couple together. This is a fun story with an entertaining plot with a few surprises, interesting characters, and a happy ending.

Not as steamy as I thought
A rake and a thief, aren't they kinda the same thing. One steals hearts the other possessions. But both have kind hearts. There are more similarities to each other than they know. THis story was very intriguing and so hard to put down when I needed to go to bed. It was not as steamy as I expected. It was 97% story and 3% steam. At least it seemed that way to me. I was so intranet by the plot, the steamy scenes were not long or drawn out. I would definitely read another one of this authors story. I absolutely adored reading it.
