NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The gripping new Jack Reacher thriller from the #1 New York Times bestselling authors Lee Child and Andrew Child
“No Plan B is not to be missed. A perfectly plotted, fast-paced thriller, with bigger twists than ever before. It’s no wonder Jack Reacher is everyone’s favorite rebel hero.”—Karin Slaughter
ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR: Reader’s Digest
In Gerrardsville, Colorado, a woman dies under the wheels of a moving bus. The death is ruled a suicide. But Jack Reacher saw what really happened: A man in a gray hoodie and jeans, moving stealthily, pushed the victim to her demise—before swiftly grabbing the dead woman’s purse and strolling away.
When another homicide is ruled an accident, Reacher knows this is no coincidence. With a killer on the loose, Reacher has no time to waste to track down those responsible.
But Reacher is unaware that these crimes are part of something much larger and more far-reaching: an arsonist out for revenge, a foster kid on the run, a cabal of powerful people involved in a secret conspiracy with many moving parts. There is no room for error, but they make a grave one. They don’t consider Reacher a threat. “There’s too much at stake to start running from shadows.” But Reacher isn’t a shadow. He is flesh and blood. And relentless when it comes to making things right.
For when the threat is Reacher, there is No Plan B.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Jack Reacher single-handedly takes down a private army in this nonstop action-adventure thriller. When a murder that he’d witnessed is dismissed as a suicide—and a second “accidental” death follows—Reacher realizes he’s on the trail of a deadly conspiracy. As our favorite tough guy follows the clues from Colorado to a maximum-security prison in Mississippi, dodging speeding cars and flying fists along the way, he needs to use both his superior smarts and his formidable fighting skills to take down a shadowy private army. As always, sibling co-authors Lee and Andrew Child deliver the breakneck pace and explosive plotting that have made the series such fun. When you want an action thriller that doesn’t pull any punches, Reacher is the man.
At the start of the relentlessly paced 27th Jack Reacher novel—the third collaboration between the Child brothers (after 2021's Better Off Dead)—six men meet at Minerva, a Mississippi prison, to decide if someone who witnessed the murder of Minerva employee Angela St. Vrain in Gerrardsville, Colo., poses a threat to their illegal sources of profit. That someone is Reacher, who, when a police officer urges him not to get involved, says: "A woman was murdered. Someone has to do something about it." The Minerva team's justifiable fears and Reacher's quest for justice propel the plot, which charts Reacher's long journey from Colorado to Mississippi. Most Reacher stories focus on Reacher, the victims, and the bad guys, but this one has two additional narrative threads: a 15-year-old boy runs away from his foster home in L.A. to reunite with his imprisoned father; and a successful arsonist wants vengeance for his son's mysterious death. The authors sacrifice some narrative momentum with these subplots, but they also provide all the familiar elements Reacher fans expect: the slow reveal of Minerva's massive secret, plenty of violence, Reacher's unique approach to dispensing justice, and a thrilling denouement. These newer Reacher books just keep getting better.
Good work Andrew.
No Plan B
A terrific book as always. Lee Child has certainly brought Jack Reacher to life. Have read all the Reacher books and this is one of his best.
No Plan B
Not the usual Reacher . Might be me but, who wrote this?
