A fun and feminist Regency romp from a master of the genre hailed as "a delight" by Bridgerton author Julia Quinn.
Nothing happens in London without Graham Wynchester knowing. His massive collection of intelligence is invaluable to his family’s mission of aiding those most in need. So when he deciphers a series of coded messages in the scandal sheets, Graham’s convinced he must come to a royal’s rescue. But his quarry turns out not to be a princess at all… The captivating Kunigunde de Heusch is anything but a damsel in distress, and the last thing she wants is Graham’s help.
All her life, Kuni trained alongside the fiercest Royal Guardsmen in her family, secretly planning to become her country’s first Royal Guardswoman. This mission in London is a chance to prove herself worthy without help from a man, not even one as devilishly handsome as Graham. To her surprise, Graham believes in her dream as much as she does, which makes it harder to resist kissing him…and falling in love. But how can she risk her heart if her future lies an ocean away?
A woman discovers her self-worth with help from a wonderfully unconventional family in Ridley's sparkling third Wild Wynchesters Regency (after The Perks of Loving a Wallflower). Kuni de Heusch of Balcovia dreams of becoming the kingdom's first female Royal Guardsman, though her Guardsmen older brothers always laugh her off. She finally gets a chance to prove herself on a mission to London gathering intel in advance of a royal visit. Graham Wynchester, the unofficial spy master of his Robin Hoodesque band of quirky adopted siblings, knows the Balcovian royalty are on their way. So when he stumbles on Kuni, he mistakes her for a princess in need of his protection. Of course, Kuni quickly proves more than capable of protecting herself. Taken in by her fierceness and beauty, Graham invites Kuni to stay with him and his siblings. Kuni's independence is hard won but when the boisterous Wynchester clan invites her to join in on their heists, she feels seen and appreciated for the first time. Graham and Kuni share an immediate attraction, which grows to something more through witty banter and mutual support. But if Kuni becomes a Royal Guardsman, how will Graham fit into her life? The sense of camaraderie between the diverse Wynchester crew is as strong as ever, and Ridley hits the sweet spot of tickling readers' funny bones and pulling on their heartstrings in equal measure. This is a joy. Agent: Lauren E. Abramo, Dystel, Goderich & Bourret.
Highly recommended love story!
Loved reading the amazing and captivating romance story. When Kunigunde de Heusch, Kuni, is trying to escape her two brother, Graham Wynchester comes to her rescue. Even though Kuni's one goal in life is to become a Royal Guard to the Princess, she finds it difficult to stop her feelings for Graham. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and riveting must read love story by the extraordinary author, Erica Ridley.
Maybe they don’t need what they want the most.
Graham is a Wynchester who was an acrobat and now he wants to rescue a princess.
Kuni wants to be a royal guardswoman, think Okoye from Black Panther.
In London, it’s a mashup of wits and wills and of course, a heist. Fun and foxy.
We are back with the Winchester’s. Kuni wants to work for the Royal guards like her family. Graham is out to help her. But she doesn’t want his help! They both respect each other’s wishes and dreams, but can they work it all out? Will Kuni realize she’d be happier being a Winchester!
