New York Times bestselling author Katy Regnery returns with the second book in her Odds-Are-Good series!
When a lonely vet(eran) and an ambitious vet(erinarian) work together to win the Qimmiq 200, sparks will fly…
Montana-born veterinary student, Juliet Sanderson, is disappointed when her project on the treatment and care of sled dogs falls through due to the illness of a local musher. In an effort to salvage her study and graduate, she answers the personal ad of Alaskan musher, Cody Garrison, who is desperately seeking a teammate for an upcoming co-ed race, The Qimmiq 200.
Cody Garrison, a retired U.S. Marine, doesn't tell Juliet that he was left permanently disabled during his time in active service, fearing that she wouldn't agree to race with him if she knew. But once she arrives in Alaska, discovering the truth about Cody's past will be inevitable. Will the partnership they've agreed to, and the off-the-charts chemistry between them, be enough to see them through the rigors of training and secure them the win of their lives?

Tears rolling down my face
OMG. Even as I sit here writing my review, tears are running down my face. You broke my heart, Ms Regnery, but you did it in such a way that I will recover. Yes, it is a HEA, but there are two scenes that just tore me apart. Maybe I'm more sensitive being a husky owner and dealing with the same issues as the scenes entail, but lordy my heart was breaking and tears were flowing.
Cody is such a wonderful man. He is a very sensitive soul, but who wouldn't be given what he has lived through. He just needs to find the one woman who will accept him for who he is no matter what. Enter Juliet. This was meant to be a means to an end, but it becomes so much more. And how could it not. They spend 24/7 together living, training, taking care of the dogs. Their falling in love was destined.
This was such an emotional read for me. I truly loved this story. It will resonate with most readers and you will fall in love with Cody, with Juliet and with the dogs. God bless Viola.
Checks all the boxes!
I love this series. The stories are standalone connected by a magazine called Odds Are Good with classifieds and singles ads.
Cody, a veteran living a very solitary life in Nome, Alaska, placed an ad looking for a partner for a coed dog sled race. “NOME-O SEEKS JULIET” and Juliet replies.
“This is crazy,” I tell her. She wipes away her tears, nodding at me with a blossoming smile. “Yes. It’s crazy. Be crazy with me.”
I loved everything about this book. The sexy, sweet romance, the main characters and the stories of their past, the cute ad that brought them together, and the awesome dogs! But I was completely taken by surprise by my emotional reactions to the story. One minute I’m swooning over sweet romance and the next I’m over here bawling on my book!
“One minute I was whole, the next…I wasn’t. The me I knew was…gone.”
“Not gone,” I whisper. “Just…broken.”
Nome-O Seeks Juliet checked all the boxes for me. It gave me ‘all the feels’ and left me with a bit of a book hangover but a big smile on my face.
