Natalie has mastered being easy to date: she says "it's fine" when it isn't, accepts vague plans, and turns ordinary texts into promises. After one almost-relationship too many, she decides to stop making herself convenient for men who offer the minimum.

Then Rhys Calder walks into Little Saint, the Brooklyn wine bar where Natalie works. He is direct, attractive, and far too good at leaving before anyone can ask him to stay. Between chaotic shifts, bad advice from her best friend Tess, late-night messages, disastrous dates, and one dangerously timed box of croissants, Natalie must learn how to say what she wants without apologizing for it.

But Rhys has habits of his own to unlearn. If they want something real, both of them will have to stop disappearing first.
