Happy ending?
I was fully engaged in the story, but while Ferguson kept repeating how much history Cliff and Lizzie had, there was not a lot of depth to their relationship. Lizzie kept a wall up to protect herself from heartache and Cliff was often a selfish jerk. And along the way there were so many sad events and tragedies that I finished the book feeling worse than when I started.
