Novena for Seeking Employment

Inspired by the teachings of St. Josemaria Escriva, the Novena for Seeking Employment: Prayers and Resolutions to Help Your Job Search is written for anyone who is currently unemployed and for students preparing to begin their professional work. 

The novena aims to help us sanctify the time while searching for a job by deepening our understanding of the meaning of work, talking with God about our concerns and desires through daily prayer, and developing some healthy personal habits that are essential to staying positive and growing in holiness during this challenging time—for example:

• Put order to every day

• Devote time to thought and discernment

• Do not isolate yourself

• Devote more time to family and friends

• Give thanks

As St. Josemaria explained, “everyday life is the true setting for your lives as Christians. Your daily encounter with Christ takes place where your fellow men, your yearnings, your work, and your affections are. It is in the midst of the most material things of the earth that we must sanctify ourselves, serving God and all mankind”  (Conversations, no. 113).
