Publisher Description

“Mira Lyn Kelly’s writing always sparkles,” raves Lauren Layne, and Kelly does it again in Now and Then—a steamy short novel of lost love, second chances, and hidden dangers.

Brynn Ahearn is gorgeous, fun, and not just a sports nut but an NBA camera woman whose work takes her all over the country. In other words, she’s a walking male fantasy—or at least, she would be if she weren’t so busy keeping the guys at bay. The fact is, with Brynn’s con-man father fresh out of jail and back in her life, dating is just too risky. Haunted by memories of her past, she couldn’t ask any man to gamble with his life for love—even one as addictive as Ford Meyers.

Ford can’t believe his luck when he walks into a bar in Chicago’s Wicker Park and gets an eyeful of Brynn, the one that got away. After the gorgeous redhead blew him off in college, Ford got on with his life and made his fortune as a bestselling game designer, but he’s never found a woman who compared to Brynn. No stranger to success, Ford is used to getting what he wants—and after a scorching stolen kiss, what he wants is a second shot with his first love. To get it, he just has to convince her that he’s man enough to take on the past she can’t leave behind.

Now and Then

Not disappointed that I preordered the book and read it as soon as it was available. Mira Lyn Kelly wrapped up the Date To Love series with her usual wit and romance. Loved that she revisits the previous characters in the story line. Will add her to my must read authors.

Awesome read!

Now and Then is a sexy, steamy read. Our hero is a glorious geeky guy with hot looks to match his brilliant mind. He’s into a down to earth girl with a simple wardrobe and an interesting profession of filming basketball games. This is a romance rekindled story. Ten years have gone by when Ford and Brynn reconnect. They met in college when she broke it off, but there was enough of a fire that this reunion sparks back to life with just one look.
Who doesn’t enjoy being pulled into the fascinating place of Ford’s rapturous attention? I love the way he looks at Brynn. The way he wants to hold her and love her makes even my pulse race. I read this book while traveling. Too often in a crowded airport did the color rise in my cheeks. I prayed it wasn’t noticeable to anyone but me. And I read this stuff all time, so this sort of reaction is pretty intense.
Brynn has a dilemma with her father, a man with few scruples and a huge gambling problem. It’s the reason she broke it off with Ford all those years ago. She bails the old man out of his debt, but she’s terrified he’ll prey on her friends. The man is a pariah. A great deal of angst is expressed by Brynn throughout the story over this issue. It shapes her whole motivation. I’m surprised she didn’t cut her father loose.
Brynn and Ford rekindle their romance, but Brynn doesn’t want to let Ford into her life. He assures her he can take care of things, and the man can. He’s rich. He owns the building she lives in and he has connections, but she holds out, keeping at a distance until he finally squeezes the truth out of her. Even after he fixes her problem, she doesn’t want to commit. It’s a little trying from a reader’s point of view. The resolution, though, is satisfying and happy.
Loved the emotional satisfaction in this story.
