In the summer of '71, between high school and university, Phil takes a job as a short-order cook in his home town in upstate New York. When the waitress's ex-husband is murdered, the police suspect Randal, a Viet Nam vet who is the head cook. To help Randal prove his innocence, Phil is dragged into the world of outlaw motorcycle gangs and drug dealers.
