Lieutenant Eve Dallas walks the thin line between love and hate in the 40th In Death thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author J. D. Robb…
Eve Dallas has solved a lot of high-profile murders for the NYPSD and gotten a lot of media. She—and her husband Roarke—are getting accustomed to being objects of attention, of gossip, of speculation.
But now Eve has become the object of one person’s obsession. Someone who finds her extraordinary, and thinks about her every hour of every day. Who believes the two of them have a special relationship. Who would kill for her—again and again…
With a murderer reading meanings into her every move, handling this case will be a delicate—and dangerous—psychological dance. And Eve knows that underneath the worship and admiration, a terrible threat lies in wait. Because the beautiful lieutenant is not at all grateful for these bloody offerings from her “true and loyal friend.” And in time, idols always fall…
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Bestseller Robb reaches a milestone with the 40th entry in her near-future New York City series that debuted in 1995 with Naked in Death. As 2060 nears its end, Lt. Eve Dallas of the New York Police and Security Department, has a lot to celebrate, including a long history of successful cases. But Eve also has a homicidal admirer determined to remove those who disrespect her, starting with attorney Leanore Bastwick. A note at the crime scene is signed, "Your true and loyal friend." A second murder quickly follows, and Eve gets a warning from shrink Charlotte Mira that the killer will eventually turn on her. A lack of forensic clues has Eve digging deep into her past cases and trying desperately to make sure those close to her are protected from an increasingly angry killer. Robb plays her familiar and popular tune with enough new flourishes to please her legions of fans.

Obsessed in Not So Good
The worst J D Robb I’ve read. Too long, too drawn out, not typical Eve and Rourke. Don’t waste your time
One of her best!
I've read nearly all of this series and the complex plot of this one rates five stars. Another. five star in this series I recommend is Salvation in Death.
