On the Home Front

On the Home Front takes us to the year 1941; Canada is at war and in Montreal, Canada's metropolis, tensions are high as the conflict in Europe grinds on with no signs of impending victory. The impact of the war has been personal for Alice Assolari, whose only son Charlie is serving overseas with Canada's air force. Close to home, a respected neighbour, Joe Pino, is caught up in a government dragnet targeting residents of Italian origin. Alice, convinced a mistake has been made and Joe has been unjustly targeted, volunteers to help his wife Tillie run the family grocery business. Her altruism leads to events she could never have predicted and the revelation of a surprising link to the Pino family.
