A FISHERMAN’S DAUGHTER
Miss Poppy Summers is determined to keep her family’s fishing business afloat. Her poor widowed father has fallen ill, and her foolhardy brother has moved to London, leaving her precious little time to read or pursue her own dreams. But she’ll do anything for her family, so she cheerfully spends mornings in her rowboat, casting her nets. The very last thing Poppy expects or wants to find tangled in them is a dangerously attractive man. Especially one with a head wound—who’s convinced he’s a duke.
AND A DUKE OUT OF WATER
Andrew Keane is the Duke of Hawking, but he’s having the devil of a time convincing his fiery-haired rescuer of that fact. The truth is he came to the seaside resort of Bellehaven Bay to escape his life in London. Unfortunately, someone in Bellehaven wants to kill him—and he intends to find out who. He implores Poppy to tend to his injuries and hide him on her beach, reasoning it will be easier to find his attacker if that man assumes Keane is already dead. She wants no part of the scheme but can’t refuse the generous sum he offers in exchange for food and shelter while he recovers. It’s a mutually beneficial business arrangement…nothing more.
ARE ABOUT TO MAKE WAVES
Under Poppy’s care, Keane regains his strength—and a sense of purpose. As they work together to solve the puzzle of his would-be murderer, he’s dazzled by her rapier wit and adventurous spirit; she’s intrigued by his mysterious air and protective streak. Though Poppy’s past gives her every reason to mistrust someone like Keane, the seawalls around her heart crumble in the storm of their passion. But when clues hint at the prime suspect in Keane’s attempted murder, Poppy must decide where her loyalties lie. Torn between the world she’s always known and the one she’s always dreamed of, she’ll need true love for a shot at her fairytale ending.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Bennett's tantalizing second Rogues to Lovers Regency romance (after Girls Before Earls) gets off to a memorable start: fisherwoman Poppy Summers catches a man in her net. He's Andrew Keane, Duke of Hawking, and a mysterious attacker tried to drown him. Poppy saves his life and tries to run for help, but Keane reasons he'll have better luck sussing out his would-be killer if whoever it is believes he's dead, and offers Poppy an exorbitant sum to hide him instead. Poppy's distrustful of the nobility due to a painful family history, but she reluctantly accepts. She's certainly not expecting the duke to prove charming, kind, and intelligent—or for him to treat her with such remarkable respect and care. Keane, for his part, is instantly smitten with Poppy and recruits her help in finding his enemy. As they work through Keane's list of possibilities, mutual attraction gives way to tender sex scenes—but Poppy's still wary of risking her heart. The mystery itself feels a bit half-baked; the characters take a somewhat nonsensical approach to the investigation and the twist is easily guessed. Bennett makes up for this, however, with the genuine feeling of connection between her leads and the vivid seaside scene setting. Readers will be swept away.

Adore!!
Miss Poppy Summers expects a lot of fish in the sea to get caught in her nets, not a figurative fish who claims to be the Duke of Hawking in One Duke Down by Anna Bennett!!
I love Poppy’s cynical, get-off-my-beach vibe, but we also see her kindness during her meet-cute with Andrew Keane. However, she is not kind enough to believe he is a duke. She is busy, she lets him know it, what a boss!
I enjoyed the who-dun-it aspect to the story!! I love that Poppy takes the opportunity to have fun while helping Andrew find his attacker. I love that the Belles, her friends, help her have fun while on her mystery missions.
I love how insanely understanding Andrew is! He has patience with Poppy’s reluctance to share her secrets, keeping them in limbo. He wants answers before accusing his attacker. Then he decides a fair punishment for the mastermind, but does it blow up in his face??
If you enjoy difference, independent woman, masquerades, road trips, and sick bed stories, then this book is for you!!

A Sensual Seduction!
Wit, adventure, seduction, and passion blends seamlessly to create this deeply emotional and charming romance. Anna Bennett weaves an intriguing plot with complex characters to provide the perfect sensual escape. There’s nothing I didn’t love about One Duke Down, especially its lush, captivating glimpse into history.
Poppy and Keane’s story is magically delicious from beginning to end. This is a slow burning, always complicated, with a little angst, opposites attract romance. On paper these
characters make zero sense together, with Keane being a duke and poppy being a fisherman’s daughter. But the undercurrent of this whole story is a powerful message about not making unfair assumptions, not passing judgment based on what you think you know about a certain person, and with that comes the glaring reality that they have more in common than they ever could have imagined. Their attraction is fiery and intense as well as sweet and tender. There is no shortage of push and pull and adventures as they hunt for a murderer together, which had me glued to every page. There is also humor and hilarious banter between them. So adorably funny and charming while remaining romantic. A story that entertains and makes you think.
I really enjoyed this book, all the intense feelings, all the charming and swoony moments between Poppy and Keane and all the possibilities. You need this book! Run! Go! Get it now!!
I received an early copy and this is my honest review.
One duke down
Wow! Lots going on in this book, but oh boy is it a good one. Poppy and Keane teach each other that there is so much more to life then they know. The story is not rushed and keeps you entertained all the way through. Mystery and romance make this a great story.
