An Outstanding SciFi Romantic Adventure
Vesper and Kyrion both at completely opposite ends of the status quo build a tenuous relationship because of an unwelcome and unwanted bond. Amidst fear of death they cannot break this magical force which puts both their lives at risk from someone with unspeakable evil power Kyrion (and eventually Vesper) cannot avoid.
Vesper proves, however, what she may lack in magicka she more than makes up for in intelligence dealing with both her own and Kyrion’s scarred past and both present and future danger. The first part of this series leaves me craving for more!
Jennifer Estep’s writing is simply incredible. I’m doing some writing myself but could never hope to ever be anywhere close to her in skill. I will always be a fan of her work. If you haven’t read Only Bad Options, you are missing out on an incredibly entertaining science fiction experience…
Only Bad Options
Unlike many current science fiction novels, this story is not just about sex and violence. Instead it combines a character study of a flawed heroine who while striving to understand herself becomes a stronger woman who grows into a powerful role. There is a romance with a complexity to it that makes it very believable. The story around her builds until the ending and promises further intrigue.

I had heard quite the buzz about Only Bad Options and had to give it a read. At the start, I was interested but not hooked. Vesper was a character that I had to come to like, she wasn't exactly likable when first met, in my opinion. What really drew me to her was that she had nothing going right for her and despite that she kept her head about her. Love that in a character!
Overall, this story was very satisfying in that there were some surprises in store for the reader. There were also parts that were a far gone conclusion but still enjoyable. What really made me love this story, at the conclusion, was Vesper. She surprised me at the very end and I can't wait to see where things go with her.
