From the New York Times bestselling author of the Wedding Pact and Rose Gardner series comes a friends-to-lovers romance that "reads like a great Hollywood rom-com" (Apple Books).
Romance isn't an option for Holly Greenwood. With her wedding planner career on the line she needs to stay focused, and that means pleasing her demanding boss, not getting distracted by her mind-alteringly hot neighbor . . .
Ex-Marine Kevin Vandemeer craves normalcy. Instead, he has a broken-down old house in need of a match and some gasoline, a meddling family, and the uncanny ability to attract the world's craziest women. At least that last one he can fix: he and his buddies have made a pact to swear off women, and this includes his sweetly sexy new neighbor.
After one hot night that looks a whole lot like a disaster in the light of day, Kevin and Holly are about to learn that true love doesn't play by the rules . . .
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Family drama, a Chihuahua named Killer, and a forbidden love affair make this quirky romance irresistible. Holly Greenwood has lot on her plate: a boss from hell, a last-minute society wedding that could make her career as an event planner, and a budding relationship with her hot neighbor. When she discovers that her new boyfriend is actually her disapproving boss’ son, she faces some hard choices. Warm and funny, the first book in the Bachelor Brotherhood series reads like a great Hollywood rom-com.
Contemporary romance fans who love bridal trappings and don't mind well-meant social manipulations as long as they lead to a happy ending will delight in the opener of Swank's Bachelor Brotherhood trilogy (spun off from the Wedding Pact series), a sentimental, endearingly goofy story that packs a surprising amount of impulsive heat. Construction foreman Kevin Vandemeer, who's recently returned to Blue Springs, Mo., after a stint in the Marines, has sworn off women and resigned himself to living in the disaster of a fixer-upper his sister has purchased for him. He even agrees to keep the kitten she finds under the steps. Then next door neighbor Holly Greenwood awkwardly brings him part of a homemade lasagna, and they inevitably hit it off. But the demanding wedding planner for whom Holly works is actually Kevin's mother, and the family meddling in their lives runs deep on both sides. Keeping the relationship secret until Holly's big assignment is done will be both necessary and challenging. Swank's fluffy, feel-good storytelling proclaims the primacy of love as a force to which everyone should surrender the bachelors destined to star in future installments haven't got a chance.

First time reading this author. I enjoyed the story and characters. Coming together a little too quickly, but guess that’s modern day dating. I wasn’t bored.
Perfect must romance!
This is a great light hearted romance. Kevin, has sworn off all women after a string of crazy exs. His is so serious about being single, he creates the Bachelor Brotherhood with his two best friends.
Well we all know what happens when you put your foot down about something. In his case the girl next door mess with his plans.
If you read the Wedding Pact series, you'll love this book and get to see a few old characters. If you haven't read that series yet, it's ok! Read this book, fall in the love, then go read the Wedding Pact series. All of them are more than worth it. Who doesn't want lots of laughs and even more love?
The Spinoff I've Been Dying For!
Some authors write well in one genre while some dabble in a couple. Sometimes a reader is fortunate enough to stumble across a unique type of author that can write multiple genres so well that each time they release a new book you don’t care what genre it falls in -- you just have to read it. Pronto. The very first Denise Grover Swank book I read had me hooked, and I’ve never looked back.
When Denise first wrote the original Wedding Pact series, I had no idea I could love romance books so much. From The Substitute, to The Player, wrapping up with The Gambler, and then pleasantly surprised to be offered the short story with The Valentine, the entire series holds a special place in my heart. This first book in the spinoff Bachelor Brotherhood series pulled me right back to where I was when I first read The Substitute.
Kevin’s story promises to show readers there’s more to him than the bullying older brother Megan fends off during her substitute groom wedding story. Let’s face it -- he’s hot. Holly, his new next door neighbor, knows it as well. Their attraction might be strong, but the odds are against them considering Kevin and his friends vowed to stay away from women and Holly’s boss is none other than Nicole Vandemeer (aka Knickers) herself. She’s in full Knickers form, and Holly can’t risk losing her job since she's responsible for taking care of her grandmother.
I truly love Holly’s character. Her struggle to build a career under the watchful eye of Nicole gives her both vulnerability and strength simultaneously. Her determination to care for her grandmother, and the love she has for her, resonated personally with me. But she’s also passionate, tenacious, hard-working, and yet down to earth.
The new series blends perfectly with the original, and Megan’s role in her brother’s story adds her special brand of spunk and hilarity. She’s not afraid to stand up to her mother, and after reading this book I’d definitely want her on my team! Her shining moment had me laughing so much I had to read it repeatedly before I could move on -- it is just THAT funny.
While revisiting characters from The Wedding Pact and getting to know new ones from Bachelor Brotherhood I laughed, I teared up, I felt the longing and passion. I found new characters to love and some I can’t wait to read more about in future books. Okay, and maybe found one or two I wanted to throw things at. But in the end, I was left with that queer little ache I have when I read a good book that ends just the way it should. I can’t truly do it justice, but I CAN tell you to read it ... or you’re missing out.
