In a post-apocalyptic world, there’s a million-to-one chance that Steve Vannevar can succeed where the rest of the Suicide Squad had failed. Succeed, that is, in traveling back in time—reaching back into the months or weeks before that first attack, and persuading the nations of the Earth to hold their fire for the sake of the human race.
