Publisher Description
“[A] remarkable story….An honest and harrowing memoir of a life-changing ordeal.” —Arizona Republic
The spellbinding New York Times bestseller, Out of Captivity is the amazing true story of Marc Gonsalves, Tom Howes, and Keith Stansell, three American civilian contractors who were held hostage by the FARC rebel group in Colombia for five and a half years. Written with Gary Brozek, this book is an astonishing tale of unbelievable hardship and indomitable will—an “action-packed” (Time magazine) real-life adventure that stands with Alive by Piers Paul Read, Norman Ollestad’s Crazy for the Storm, and other classic true stories of survival.

Bone-chilling adventure
A gripping tale rivaling Midnight Express. A must read for all those who relish seeing right-wing moral crusaders roast on a spit. The three authors were on a mission in Columbia to keep drugs from infecting entire American neighborhoods until mysteriously and karmically their airplane engine failed crash-landing them in the Columbian jungle costing them nearly 2,000 days in captivity. Isn’t it fascinating that sooner or later all these evangelists who invade our living rooms to preach their version of morality wind up in some kind of jungle? The authors lost years of their lives and precious time with their families. They even lost their marriages. Was their moral crusading worth it? You decide.
