Outlaws Grump Worth Scoring

Former pro-hockey enforcer. Grumpy single dad. Motorcycle-riding pain in the ass. And if I want him, mine?

I went to the bar to support my best friend and the Austin Outlaws' new team colors.

I didn't expect to end up arguing with a big bearded stranger who thinks my teal-and-plum uniforms look like Easter Bunny puke. (What a jerk!)

I really didn't expect to want him. This man whose scowl and sheer size are as intimidating as his grizzled nickname.

A little older, a lot growlier, and about as far from my usual type as a man can get, Lyle manages to both captivate and irritate. But underneath the attitude is a devoted dad, a fiercely protective streak he doesn't try to hide, and a man who makes me feel safer after one night than my lying ex managed in months.

There's just one teeny-tiny problem.

My random sexy biker isn't random at all.

He's Lyle Bearden—former professional player, now co-owner of the Austin Outlaws and the "hockey hard-ass" my best friend (the team's other owner) has been complaining about for months.

I should run. Get far away and fast.

Instead of running, I'm standing my ground. Glorying in our sparks, in my back against the wall, in his lips on mine. Starting to wonder if the biggest risk I've taken on a man in years might finally be the one that pays off.

I slept with the enemy. And I can't wait to do it again.

Ack! I'm a goner.
