Publisher Description
Learn how to use Apple's Pages '09 to create a book that can be distributed in a variety of formats. From adding the first page to publishing an ePub, this step-by-step guide will provide you with the necessary skills to control your book's layout. Display footers and page numbers properly; manage styles; understand section breaks and other layout tools that baffle many users of this word processing application.
Written in a conversational style with many tips and insights, the book was designed for a beginner and written by a professional technical writer. You will feel that you have an instructor sitting next to you as you learn the program from the point of view of a writer.
This is not a book that will show you how to use the intuitive layout templates provided by Pages; but a very specific use of word processing - the creation of a book.
The last chapter focuses on getting your book ready for ePub distribution with recommendations on using free or inexpensive online resources, such as a conversion tool for devices that require a proprietary format.

While lacking many screenshots the step-by-step instructions are accurate and in-depth. Actually, the screenshots would likely clutter the book and aren't really necessary. If you can follow directions without pictures you should be able to gain some value from the book.
Don't waste your money
Poor guidance and few screen shots make this a very poor book. The author provides a series of steps with NO illustrations. There is no process flow, few caveats on the differences between publishing a PDF doc or ePub . . . the only redeeming value of the $10 I spent is the hope of saving someone else from making the same mistake and buying this "book."
