When Noelle Cooke inherits a quaint English cottage and an art gallery from her famous Aunt Joy, she welcomes a departure from her San Diego routine. But the lure of the Cotswolds, combined with a locked cottage room and a revealing journal, entice her to stay and discover more, including a way to save the gallery from financial ruin. And that means remaining in England.
When her childhood sweetheart, Adam Spencer, begins work on a restoration project in Noelle's village, their friendship blossoms. But as her feelings for Adam deepen, she struggles with memories of what might have been and yearns for a future once thought lost. Faced with a life-altering revelation Aunt Joy took to her grave and a wrenching choice regarding the man she loves, Noelle could lose far more than her heart.
As a child and teenager, Noelle Cooke spent enchanted summers in England with her grandmother; her great-aunt, Joy Valentine, a famous painter; and her best friends, Jillian and Adam. Now in her 30s, she lives in San Diego with an unfulfilling job and a series of dead-end relationships. When she receives a letter informing her that the mysteriously reclusive Joy has died, leaving Noelle the sole heir of a Cotswold cottage and a failing art gallery, she expects to spend a few days winding up Joy's affairs before returning to California. But the discovery of a locked room full of masterpieces worth millions changes her plans, as do renewed friendships with Jillian and a nascent romantic connection with Adam, who is now a successful architect and has a fianc e. Noelle's discovery of her aunt's journal and her parsing the secrets of her artwork is more intriguing than her faux-innocent and flirtatious relationship with Adam as they revisit the near-romance of their adolescence.
A wonderfully enjoyable book that was hard to put down....so many twists and turns...couldn't wait to see what happened next. It had such a beautiful ending. I look forward to more of Traci's books...off to download "Finding the Rainbow" right now.
This book is well-written and hard to put down. I can't wait to read more Traci Borum books!
Could not put it down!
